Fox 5 WTTG News, Washington DC the #1 News Station and most hours of local news is looking for a Sr. Assignment Editor for the News Department. Individual will dispatch photographers and reporters for assignments; be responsible for the monitoring of breaking news, local news and national news; and maintain the news information files. Assist field crews in story development/completion including providing directions to a location; providing background information on a story; making preliminary calls to set-up a news story. Communicate story developments to producers, field crews and managers. Individual will develop new sources and contacts and assist in special projects. This candidate must be able to produce web content and break news on multiple platforms including Twitter, Facebook and all social media. Fox 5 is looking for someone that can break news through contacts and relationships built in the community without relying on press releases. Qualifications: Candidate should be an experienced news professional with 5-7 years of newsroom experience and have exceptional people skills. College degree preferred. Candidate should be organized and have knowledge of local, regional, national and international stories with the ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure. Ability to work varied and extended hours required.
