JOB DESCRIPTION

The FOX Network Center in The Woodlands, TX is searching for a Transmission Systems Engineer. The position is responsible for the implementation, operation and maintenance of transmission, reception, and compression systems associated with the broadcast facility.

This position also includes broadcast maintenance responsibilities with the additional job functions such as: mastery of compression systems and writing systems documentation. The incumbent will play a key role with ensuring online operational systems documentation is accurate and up to date.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and support on specialized equipment and systems
  • Execute maintenance/upgrades on transmit, receive, compression, and other sub-systems associated with the facility
  • Perform transmit maintenance including performance checks and preventive maintenance on compression systems, RF transmitters, uplink antennas and associated components
  • Accomplish receiver maintenance including performance checks and preventive maintenance on RF receivers, downlink antennas and associated components
  • Support TOC operations checking in broadcast feeds
  • Attends specialized technical training classes and imparts knowledge to other engineers and staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience as a technician in broadcast or network broadcasting operations or equivalent military experience
  • Experience maintaining and operating satellite transmissions, reception and compression systems in a broadcast environment is preferred
  • Ability to utilize RF Spectrum Analyzer, RF meters, video/audio waveform monitors and associated alignment tools is required
  • Experience in satellite and fiber transmission/receiving systems
  • Skilled at using digital and analog test equipment
  • Capability to effectively troubleshoot and diagnose problems and repair or report to management
  • Ability to work with employees, customers, vendors, and service providers will be required
  • IP and networking experience, CCNA, CCDP, or CCIE certifications desirable
