JOB DESCRIPTION

Providing a variety of custom software for the production of computer animated movies. This custom software is used in most aspects of the CG pipeline including modeling, animation, special effects, image processing and rendering. It solves problems for which no off-the-shelf solutions are available including the standardization of workflow and clean data handoff throughout the pipeline.  

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, debug and maintain software, written mostly in C++ and Python, using state-of-the art algorithms and procedures.

  • Software may be stand-alone or plug-ins to third-party packages such as Maya, Houdini and Nuke.

  • Write documentation, demonstrate and instruct production staff on use of software.

  • Stay current with advancements in relevant fields.

  • Research possible new methods to improve quality of CG product, to improve productivity of CG production staff or to improve software development itself.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

Pursuing B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:

  • Interest and/or experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industry.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with tool integration into existing or new pipelines.

  • Experience with Maya, Houdini or other 3rd Party Animation Systems.

  • Strong programming skills. Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Object Oriented Programming, Model/View/Controller framework.

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision.

  • Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups.
