JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Unit Manager manages schedules and tracks deliverables for up to 200 + hours of Global, International, and Regional Programming. Works closely with the International production team located in the UK and assigned third party production companies. Senior Unit Manager will review schedules, track and receive deliverables and ensure best practices across assigned programming. Key responsibilities include creating and finalizing contract attachments, tracking deliverables, overseeing schedule changes, and liaising with various internal departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with third party production companies and internal departments to create, negotiate, and finalize contract attachments for newly assigned programming. Contract exhibits that set the parameters of the production.
  • Provide vendors with all technical specs, clocks, and credit requirements and advise on all NG technical and business standard operating guidelines. Programs meet the high-quality standards expected for National Geographic.
  • Proactively communicate with third party production companies throughout the production regarding the schedule. Maintain cut and master delivery schedules and follow up on missing or late deliveries. Assist production companies in formulating strategies for bringing productions back on track after setbacks. Delivery of materials for promotion and broadcast of the program. Teamwork in which all parties are aware of the schedule and end goal.
  • Track and take receipt of program deliverables & notify internal departments of delivery and schedule changes throughout production. Other departments receive the information and materials needed to include in the listings, promote, and broadcast the program.
  • Assist Marketing in facilitating ancillary asset requests and delivery from various internal NGP & Disney business units.The Networks receive adequate material for the 360 exploitation of the program.
  • Update and maintain production and deliverable status in NGC systems for tracking, weekly reports, communication, and workload for teams and internal departments. All Departments and Executives have up to date information on assets and schedules.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 5 years of long form, unscripted production experience working as a Junior Production Manager or Senior Production Coordinator on original productions for broadcast networks and/or third-party production companies.
  • Knowledge of production and post-production processes and logistics in addition to familiarity with broadcast deliverables and technical specifications. Experience working with international clients.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Diplomatic skills when working on challenging projects.
  • Ability to switch between multiple unique projects that are in different stages of production all over the world (i.e. different time zones). An awareness of the bigger picture as it relates to the entire production, the Channels’ programming slate, and team members’ workloads.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), media-sharing platforms, and customized data entry applications.
  • Quickly adapts to learning new technology, workflows, software and systems.
  • Extremely detailed oriented, comfortable multi-tasking, manages time effectively, efficient, organized, takes initiative with little direction and is self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize what’s most important at any given moment and adjust as necessary.
